A highly important and rare edition of Euripides edited by Dutch scholar Willem Canter (1542 1575). Canter opens a new era as an editor of the Tragic Poets of Greece (Ref: J. E. Sandys, History of Classical Scholarship, 1906). Canter was certainly esteemed enough to have been consulted by Milton and Samuel Johnson.

Balthasar Grangier (ca. 1605 1679) was one of the leading figures of the Catholic revival in Britain in the seventeenth century Additionally, Balthasar Grangier was an important scholar, publishing the first complete French translation of Dante's Divina commedia.
