1659 EUCLID Elementarum libris IX rare woodcut diagrams With woodcut printer's device and numerous geometical designs. First work by Isaac Barrow. Isaac Barrow (1630-1677), a friend of Newton, is especially known for his lectures on optics and geometry (see Ball, A short account of the history of mathematics, pp. 310-11).
Barrow's Euclid was used as standard textbook for at least a half century.
Binding stained; endpapers with a few marginal tears; title withmanuscript addition; some staining and spotting.
