1794 Catullus, Tibullus, Propertius. Bodoni Masterpiece Picture(s) and Description:
PARMAE IN AEDIBUS PALATINIS TYPIS BODONIANI (BODONI) A famous typographic masterpiece by Giovan Battista Bodoni, "Catullus, Tibullus, Propertii ", printed in Parma in folio size in 1794. In 1791, Bodoni obtained from the Duke permission to open a private press from which all his masterpieces were produced. The Tipografia Reale continued to produce less important works and common government works. Bodoni's private press employed no more than a dozen workers, from compositors to pressmen, while the Stamperia Reale had about 20. 1791 was a particularly productive year. He printed The Castle of Otranto by Walpole, for the London bookseller Edwards, Parini's Odi and the splendid editions sponsored by Parini Nicolas de Azara: the folio editions of Horace (Q.Horatii Flacci Opera, 1791), Virgil (P. Virgilii Maronis Opera, 1793) and the Folio Latin classics (Catulli, Tibulli, Propertii Opera, 1794).
The first original blank with a minor repair, some light foxing throughout the book, some minor defects, but a very good untrimmed copy in an attractive full leather binding .

Provenience. Maria Luisa d'Asburgo-Lorena, better known as Maria Luisa of Austria or Maria Luigia of Austria (Vienna, 1791 Parma, 1847). As the wife of Napoleon I , she was the French empress from 1810 to 1814, the duchess of Parma, Piacenza and Guastala from 1814 to 1847 . (see the 5th photo).
