plus there are ledger entries on 13 of the back pages.

It measures 2 1/2" x 4" and it is in very good condition with no loose or missing pages.

In the back pocket there are newspaper clippings, and 3 election list of political candidates.

Robert was 24 years old when he began to write in this diary.

This is a great diary and he has wonderful handwriting that is easy to read.

His mother was put into an Asylum in 1861, and he writes of visits to her,

and of bringing her home even though she isn't any better.

His younger brother Seaman enlisted for war in 1861,

and in this diary he writes of Seaman also being taken in the Insane Asylum!

Robert writes of the activities of all his family members,

letters that he writes and receives, going to parties,

having the "Phthisic", weighing only 85 pounds on his 25th birthday,

Regiments leaving for war and seeing soldiers "perhaps for the last time",

and one of these being brought home "as a corpse" .

his insane mother being brought home from the Asylum & the doctor coming to "bleed her",

his brother Seaman being taken to the Insane Asylum at Utica,

Please keep in mind that these are partial entries & that there is much more to read .
