There is not enough room here to show all the plates, so the photos below represent but a scant few and do not do justice to the incredible amount of wondeful plates this book is teeming with.
We had this book professionally restored at a book bindery. A new spine was put on, with the original leather spine installed over it. The book is tight & solid, nothing is loose or coming loose.
The covers of this book exhibit extremely limited shelfwear, The top & bottom of spine are good, the gold gilt on the spine is good, some staining to spine. The corners show minute rubbing, the gold gilt on the front is in great condition. Overall the covers are quite remarkable after 119 years. The endpapers are clean, without writing and have a former owner's bookplate. One page has light foxing at the top, otherwise, The text is clean, white, and firmly bound. The color and B&W plates are in excellent condition. No foxing or soiling evident anywhere else. BEST of all-- There is no writing or marking anywhere else in this book !,
