A rare and historic document for payment due for purchase of slaves in the pre-Civil War south....Dated January 1, 1829, this promissory note by Michael and James Wall is an agreement to pay Charles Anderson, probably a slave broker, $424.25 for "Negroes Sold us". Endorsed on reverse and assigned to William Banks by Charles Anderson. No location is noted, but this came with a group of other slave trading documents from Alabama.
