arThis item is a wonderful,original document, a 25 page manuscript morning report log of Captain Sereno Pettibone....log consists of 4 pages of diary type entries....encamped at quarters near the lighthouse at New London, where Pettibone describes the various gun ships that come and go. This log also includes 20 morning reports dating in the month of September 1813. Log is string bound, shaken, pages seperated from binding, age toned with some damp staining, 6x8, no outer covers, overall good condition Sereno PETTIBONE, brother of Augustus PETTIBONE, b. Norfolk, 9 Nov 1778; graduated Williams College, 1800; admitted to the bar 1803; practiced a few years at Norfolk & d. there 16 Nov 1826. In the early part of the war of 1812, there was a Regiment of Artillery organized in Hartford and Tolland counties, one company of which was formed from Simsbury, Granby, Canton, and New Hartford. They were immediately ordered to New London, where they were stationed in 1813, acting as State troops and not under the orders of United States officers. Capt. Sereno Pettibone was captain of this company; after Capt. Pettibone's retirement Lieut.
